Hey y'all! Since I haven't done this in a while, (and because I'm too busy getting Works of HeART up and running to write a more detailed post), I'm linking up with Mel from the Larson Lingo, Shay from Mix and Match Family, and Shaeffer from Pinterest Told Me To for their monthly "What's Up Wednesday" link-up!
[WHAT I'M EATING THIS WEEK]
- Quite a bit of junk food. And pimiento cheese sandwiches. My grandad knows I love his homemade pimiento cheese mixture, so for valentines day, he made a batch just for me! Unfortunately, it's quite a lot... and after 2 weeks, I'm getting a little bit tired of pimiento cheese sandwiches. But don't tell my grandad!
[WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT]
- My family's last Disney trip. It was about 4 years ago, right before my parents got divorced, and we brought Tink along to keep the tension levels from getting too high. My dad sprung for (using money he didn't actually have) super nice hotel rooms at the Polynesian, and we got to go to a luau at the resort too. It was actually a pretty fun trip for us kids- though I have to admit it would have been more fun with Woody instead of our real dad.
[WHAT I'M LOVING]
- I'm loving the look of Works of HeART! It's so clean and pretty, and fancy, and so far I think it's going to be worth the little bit of money I've put into it. I can't wait for next week's launch!
[WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO]
- Not a whole lot. Mostly just working at my "real job", and working on getting Works of HeART up and running. I've been transferring old posts over, and making widgets, and all kinds of fun stuff.
[WHAT I'M DREADING]
- Hmmm.... I can't really think of anything I'm dreading! Except maybe the little dip in the temperature that's supposed to be coming. The past few days have been so nice and sunny, with temps in the upper 60's and 70's!
[WHAT I'M WORKING ON]
- Planning the giveaways for the launch of Works of HeART! I'll be giving away 5 prize packages, so make sure you check in at the new space on March 1st!
[WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT]
- Duh- The launch of Works of HeART of course!!! But also, Easter, and the Passion Play our church puts on!
[WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING]
- I'm actually like, a week behind in all my shows. It's pretty depressing. But, I have been reading! Recently, I've read Zodiac by Romina Russell, The Phantom of The Opera by Gaston Leroux, Miriam by Mesu Andrews, The Arrivals by Marissa Meyer, and I'm currently reading Truthwitch by Susan Dennard!
[WHAT I'M LISTENING TO]
- Well, this morning, I was scanning radio stations, and I came across an interview of Hillsong United on a popular top-40 station's morning show! I got chills when they sang "Say the Word", just thinking about all the non-Christians out there who were hearing the song and interview. So, that was super exciting!
[WHAT I'M WEARING]
- My crocheted flower pins, of course! I love the rose one, but the delicate orchid is just absolutely stunning as a hair accessory.
[WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND]
- Hopefully, a whole lot of nothing. Napping, eating, some tv or books, that's about it.
[WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH]
- The launch of Works of HeART! Easter! The return of Once Upon a Time! Probably other things that I can't remember right now!
[WHAT ELSE IS NEW]
- Not a whole lot. Ooh, I paid off my 7-year-old credit card debt this month, which was pretty awesome! Now I can afford to add another expense to my budget, or maybe even put that money in savings!
[WHAT ARE MY FAVORITE EASTER TRADITIONS]
- I love going to the sunrise service at my church. Even when I had stopped going to church for a few years, I still made it to the Easter sunrise service. It's my favorite service of the whole year. We hold it in a graveyard, and it's just so peaceful and gives such a connection to God as we all watch the sun come up while the pastor gives a message. I also love to dye eggs (though I'm a bit of a control-freak with them, so when my siblings were younger, I wasn't allowed to participate because I was too bossy). Ooh! And I love making resurrection rolls. And I love our Passion Play- it's held for 3 days on Easter weekend, and it's just so phenomenal! (If any of y'all are in or around the Tallahassee area, we'd love for you to come see it- drop me a line for tickets, and don't worry, they're free!)
What are you up to lately? I'd love to hear about your life!
Hey y'all! I know a weekend recap isn't the usual type of thing I post on a Monday, but I had an interesting weekend, so I thought I'd share.
Friday, I went to Walmart after work for some weekend munchies, and was browsing in the craft aisle looking for yarn I don't need, when someone walked by looking like Mr. Marlboro. Instead of thinking, 'uh-oh, I should get out of the store before one of us does something dumb', I was affronted that he didn't say hello to me. I decided, well, maybe it wasn't really him after all. Rather than being smart, I proceeded to stalk him around the store for a good twenty minutes or so. I couldn't get close enough to tell if it was really him. So finally, I walked right up behind the guy and said "Mr. Marlboro, is that you?". It wasn't. He looked quite a bit like him, but still, I stalked some poor stranger around for twenty minutes, thinking he was my toxic ex that I don't even need to be thinking about! And then of course, after I left the poor befuddled stranger, I found myself wondering if it really was Mr. Marlboro, and he was just playing a cruel trick on me by pretending not to recognize me. On the one hand, that's definitely something he would do, but on the other hand, it's been three years since I last saw him, so I could have been mistaken. I'm still not sure if it was or wasn't him. And I don't know why I care! What is wrong with me??
I planned to go home and write after the Walmart debacle, but I ended up going home and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6. I'd forgotten how dark that season is! It has a couple of my favorite episodes (Once More With Feeling and Tabula Rasa), but it just gets really dark after those two, and it was not good for my mental state. So I ended up going to bed early.
On Saturday, I got up early to go shopping for goodies to giveaway when I launch Works of HeART. Speaking of, I've decided to push the launch back to March 1st. Partly because of the symmetry that comes with beginning on the first day of a new month, and partly because I want to do a big giveaway for you guys, so look for the official launch next Tuesday!!! Anyways, while I was out, I found this interesting book:
And, I have to admit, I'm kind of curious. What do chickens teach us?
I also found this super cute chalkboard easel that I've put up in my office:
This baby was at Target for $3! Can't beat that! :)
Saturday night, I decided to work on a new hair accesory that I could wear to church the next morning, and this is what I created:
Isn't it pretty? You can find the No Frills Orchid Pin in my Etsy shop, and use the code SHIP16 for free shipping! Today, it's gracing the neckline of my blouse for a fun pop of color.
On Sunday, I went to church- I really enjoyed the message, and got lots of compliments on my orchid. I also had my little brother take some pictures of me to use as my profile image for all my social media. (I wanted a new picture that matches the new Works of HeART logo, because I'm anal that way.) I spent Sunday afternoon crafting- I'm working on an Easter centerpiece that I hope to have in the shop this week.
I went to bed pretty early last night too, so I hope I'm not coming down with something...
How was your weekend? I wanna hear all about it!

Hey y'all!!! It's Friday again! And that means it's time for another edition of Friday link-ups! So, here are a few of the highlights of my week!
My age is showing- These past couple of weeks I have felt so old. I know I'm only 25, but I feel centuries old right now. Part of it is being sick. I've got some sort of death plague that won't let go, and I've been surviving on Nyquil and soup. Nyquil knocks me out- even the super-generic brand that I found at the dollar store. But it wasn't always that way. As I've gotten older, I've noticed that my tolerance gets lower and lower for these kind of things. A couple glasses of wine will do it for me, and Nyquil knocks me completely out. I have to wear my glasses for reading now, I drive more defensively, my knees ache with bad weather, and my joints creak as I move about. Is this stuff supposed to be happening to me already? Or am I just in such terrible shape that I have the body of an 80 year old at age 25? Any thoughts?
Rebranding- Remember last week, when I announced the rebrand of my blog?
Well, I am pleased to announce that it is still coming along nicely! You can find me under the new name on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Etsy, Twitter, and by Email. I hope to launch the new domain and blog next week, so look for an official final announcement on here, and make sure you hop over to check it out as well! I'll be relaunching with an introduction to the new space, and a giveaway!
News- Recently, I signed up for The Skimm.
The Skimm is a daily (weekdays) email that gives you the highlights of big items in the news, from the news about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child's publication, to the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. Now, I like to stay on top of everything, so I still check other news sites, but The Skimm's daily email is a great first look at the day's news. Sign up here!
I am loving loving loving Dream It. Pin It. Live It.! I won a copy from Amber a while ago, and I'm finally getting a chance to read it. It's really changing my perspective on goals and how to achieve them. So far I've written a list of dreams, come up with 10 goals, and created a vision board on pinterest, of those 10 goals. Already, I feel more confident in my abilities to achieve them, and I'm not even halfway through the book yet!
I'm linking up with these 3 lovely link-up parties for this wonderful Friday- I hope to see you joining us!
Stop by, and tell me about your Friday favorites! :)
